Heatspreader Question
I am trying to figure out if the TXDD2048M1300HC6DC (2 x 1GB PC2-10400) and TXDD2048M1200HC5DC (2 x 1GB PC2-9600) come with the Thermalright HR-07 or just gray heatspreaders. I see pictures on the Team Group website showing the HR-07, but pictures on some retail sites of gray heatspreaders. These are the links to the sites selling and showing heatspreaders: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820313009 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820313007.

I am hoping they now come with the heatspreaders because with my board, to get dual channel, I must use 2 slots right next to each other and the HR-07 will not work. Although, I should ask -- if Team is using heatspreaders now, will they work in 2 ddr2 slots right next to each other?

Thanks.

Hi.
There are the gray heatspreader and HR-07 for Xtreem DDR2 1200&1300.Otherwise, base on mechanical design. the HR-07 won't to use with gray heatspreader at the same time.

Thank you.

Thanks for the info. I will hope for the gray ones since the HR-07 won't work in my motherboard because the RAM has to be right next together. Thanks again.

What I am most concerned with in respect to the 1300Mhz ddr2 and the stock Team Xtreem gray heat spreader is heat. If I have all 4 of my ddr2 slots populated with these bad boys, do they have adequate cooling to safely run at the advertised 1300Mhz and what's the chance of a slight overclock to say 1333Mhz or even 1400Mhz?

I liked the look of the 3rd party cooler but it was just too thick and 2Gb is inadequate on a modern system.

Is team working on a better cooling solution, perhaps something like OCZ's reaper series that has a heat pipe out the top of the heat spreders and a set if cooling fins on the top. It looked ideal and didn't prevent full population of the memory slots.

Hi.
We have suggest some cooling for memory overclocking as below.

http://www.thermaltake.com/product_0...cid=C_00000010

http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...am_cooler.html

BTW,you also need to use suitable M/B like EP45-UD3R, P5Q Pro Turbo for overclocking to 1333 or 1400

Thanks.

Ok so the stock heat spreaders are inadequate?

All the 3rd party heat spreaders with heat pipes take up two slots, it's no good with just 1Gb stick. I must have a minimum of 4Gb.

If however it only needs those clip on fan units that go over the top of the sticks then I am good.

Btw: getting hard to find this memory, is Team going to release new fast ddr2 any time soon?

Hi.
For long time use, We are suggest to take a Fan above the memory directly.
BTW, Our development focus already transfered to DDR3, therefore, we won't announce new fast DDR2 again.

Thanks.

Well sadly it's a moot point now, I can't get the memory in australia, the distributors have stopped stocking it and all stores are out of stock.

It pains me to say this but all the stores have told me to get ocz memory because they are the next fastest at 1200mhz and is in stock.
